SUMMARY:Upcycle Series: Deconstructing for Reuse
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Upcycle series! Learn how to give used clothing and other textiles a new life\, even if you don’t sew! This is a three-class series\, so you can sign up for one or for all three! (PSSST…If you sign up for all three\, I’ll send you a special handmade gift.) \nUpcycling is a great way to change the look of a garment or turn a garment or reclaimed fabric into something else entirely (and keep it out of a landfill!). This online series will teach you how to turn your ideas into reality and turn some of those previously beloved clothes and textiles into new wearables or useful objects. \nIn this class\, we will look at how to deconstruct clothing or other textiles for reuse. This session focuses on tools and techniques to most effectively preserve as much fabric as possible by unstitching\, picking stitches\, and deconstructing the reclaimed item rather than simply cutting it apart. We will provide an onscreen presentation\, a downloadable class handout (sent via email before class)\, example ideas\, and lots of instruction. It will be an interactive session so you can ask questions and get answers! \nWHO CAN ATTEND: Ages 18 and up \nSKILL LEVEL: ALL skills levels (sewing skills NOT NECESSARY) \nINSTRUCTOR WILL PROVIDE:\n– Downloadable handout (this will be sent to you via email using the address you registered with)\n– Ideas galore\n– Onscreen presentation with visuals\n– List of resources and inspiration \nFOR THE BEST CLASS EXPERIENCE:\n– Log on 5-10 minutes before the class start time to check your connection\, audio and video\n– Log on from somewhere quiet with no background noise\n– Have something to take notes with\n– Bring your enthusiasm–this is fun creative time! \nNOTES: This is an online-only class. If you experience any technical difficulties before or during class\, please email classes@lynetteelliott.com. We will have someone standing by to provide assistance. \nPlease click here to read and understand our class policies before you commit to registering for this class. Class fees are non-refundable. If you have registered for class and are unable to attend\, you may send someone else in your place. If you do so\, please send an email to classes@lynetteelliott.com with the new individual’s name before the class. \nIf you have any questions about anything you have read above\, please send an email to classes@lynetteelliott.com or call (844)SEWING1 (844-739-4641). We are happy to answer your questions!

SUMMARY:Get Knitting: Beginner Double Knitting
DESCRIPTION:Double knitting lets you knit two layers of fabric at once and can be used to make double-thick and completely reversible patterns. The technique can be a bit of a brain-bender\, but if you can confidently cast on\, knit\, purl\, and slip stitches\, you can double knit. We will take it slowly and build up to following patterns and making tidy edges. We will spend the first two hours of class practicing (no stress! rip out freely!) before starting a simple\, small coaster project in the final hour. You will get lots of hands on help during class\, detailed written instructions\, and a list of resources and patterns. \nClick here to sign up for Get Knitting: Double Knitting for Absolute Beginner. \n**NOTE: This class is taught at McKinney Knittery. The link above will take you to the McKinney Knittery website to register for class.** \nPlease email Classes@LynetteElliott.com if you have any questions or issues with online registration.

SUMMARY:Get Knitting: Simple Sequence Knitting
DESCRIPTION:Make your own stitch patterns! This class is excellent for both beginners and experienced knitters who want to up their game. Sequence knitting repeats combinations of stitches row-by-row to create unique\, (often) reversible fabrics. If you love knitting textures or are looking for new ideas to combine yarns (especially variegated yarns)\, this is for you. We will use knits\, purls\, and a tiny bit of knitting math (no worries – I will help!) to make stitch patterns line up or serpentine across the fabric. We will spend most of the class practicing simple sequences to understand the process and then you will have time to invent your own sequences with the techniques that appeal to you most. \nClick here to sign up for Get Knitting: Simple Sequence Knitting. \n**NOTE: This class is taught at McKinney Knittery.
