You will learn about all the parts of your sewing machine\, along with how to set up and thread your machine\, wind a bobbin\, and sew precise seam allowances using a regular straight stitch. We will practice pivoting (turning corners) and explore different stitch types as time allows. Sequence knitting repeats combinations of stitches row-by-row to create unique\, (often) reversible fabrics.  If you love knitting textures or are looking for new ideas to combine yarns (especially variegated yarns)\, this is for you.  We will use knits\, purls\, and a tiny bit of knitting math (no worries – I will help!) to make stitch patterns line up or serpentine across the fabric. SUMMARY:Shape It Up: Knitting Curves and Angles
DESCRIPTION:If you already know how to knit and purl but want to be able to move beyond squares or rectangles\, come learn how to shape your knitting using increases\, decreases and yarn overs.  We will explore several different ways to add and reduce the number of stitches on your needles to create angles and curves in your knitted pieces for waists\, armholes\, necklines\, shawl shaping and more.  You will learn how to read pattern instructions and abbreviations for shaping along with how to knit the most common types of increases and decreases.  This class even includes a free pattern you can make after you’ve learned these new skills. \nCome shape up your knitting!  \nWHO CAN ATTEND: Ages 18 and up \nSKILL LEVEL: ALL including beginners who can confidently knit and purl \nWHAT TO BRING:\n– Size 7 or 8 knitting needles (straight or circulars\, whichever you prefer)\n– 20 or so yards of worsted weight non-splitty yarn (preferably a fairly solid\, light color and plied)\n– Scissors or snips\n– Something to take notes on (phone\, tablet\, or notepad and pen)\n– Your can-do knitty attitude \nINSTRUCTOR WILL PROVIDE:\n– On-screen presentation with close up demonstration\n– Lots of samples\n– Handouts\n– A FREE pattern! \nNOTES:  This is an in-person adult (ages 18 and over) class held at our studio in Addison\, TX.
