SUMMARY:Upcycle Series:  Deconstructing for Reuse
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Upcycle series! Learn how to give used clothing and other textiles a new life\, even if you don’t sew! This is a three-class series\, so you can sign up for one or for all three! (PSSST…If you sign up for all three\, I’ll send you a special handmade gift.) \nUpcycling is a great way to change the look of a garment or turn a garment or reclaimed fabric into something else entirely (and keep it out of a landfill!).  This online series will teach you how to turn your ideas into reality and turn some of those previously beloved clothes and textiles into new wearables or useful objects. \nIn this class\, we will look at how to deconstruct clothing or other textiles for reuse. This session focuses on tools and techniques to most effectively preserve as much fabric as possible by unstitching\, picking stitches\, and deconstructing the reclaimed item rather than simply cutting it apart.  We will provide an onscreen presentation\, a downloadable class handout (sent via email before class)\, example ideas\, and lots of instruction.  It will be an interactive session so you can ask questions and get answers! \nWHO CAN ATTEND: Ages 18 and up \nSKILL LEVEL: ALL skills levels (sewing skills NOT NECESSARY) \nINSTRUCTOR WILL PROVIDE:\n– Downloadable handout (this will be sent to you via email using the address you registered with)\n– Ideas galore\n– Onscreen presentation with visuals\n– List of resources and inspiration \nFOR THE BEST CLASS EXPERIENCE:\n– Log on 5-10 minutes before the class start time to check your connection\, audio and video\n– Log on from somewhere quiet with no background noise\n– Have something to take notes with\n– Bring your enthusiasm–this is fun creative time! \nNOTES:  This is an online-only class.
